Don't judge the books by its cover...
As the exterior of the Holiday Inn Basingstoke seems to be a little dated, guests are pleasantly surprised to find the rooms up to date, as well as spotlessly clean. Some guests rave about the toasty power shower, while others are particularly pleased wit

Friendly, helpful staff.
Guests are pleased to receive a warm welcome from the reception staff, and more than a few weary travellers were delighted a free room upgrade. The restaurant and bar staff also receive special mention for their efficient, attentive service.

Compliments to the chef.
Many guests enjoy the hot breakfast, noting that there are plenty of items to choose from and that the cooked items are well done. Few seem to mind paying a little extra for excellent Starbucks coffee, and the pancake machine is a hit with kids of all age

No one wants to pay for Wi-Fi...
Wi-Fi is not complimentary in standard rooms, and most guests find the additional charge excessive. Several note that some of the other hotel chains in its price range provide 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi.

Pack light...
The Holiday Inn Basingstoke is arranged over two floors, and does not have a lift. More than a few guests also found the rooms to be on the small side.

Guests who fail to get a discounted rate often comment that they could have received better value for money at other hotels in the area, feeling let down by the size of the rooms, the lack of a fitness centre on site, and the rates for Wi-Fi and breakfast
