A quiet stay in the big city
The rooms in the building have been modernised and the new decor is sophisticated and has a feeling of rest and relaxation. The quiet atmosphere is a nice break from big city noise and bustle. Add to that a feeling of security on the property and spotlessly clean rooms.
positive:
A unique location
The hotel is away from the busiest pat of Manhattan, but still give easy access to rail, subway, and bus stops for convenience all over the entire city. Plus, there are countless pubs, restaurants, and attractions within easy walks.
positive:
The little extras make for a better stay
The hotel has little extras that make for a nicer stay than a chain hotel of the same price. Each morning, a breakfast bag and hot coffee is delivered to guest rooms, saving on the expense of eating out and making it convenient for those who want to avoid traditional dining rooms and buffets. There is inexpensive parking nearby, a rarity for NYC. The small appliances in the room also make for a nicer stay.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Super small
The rooms and closets here are super small with little area to stretch out in. This is made worse by the lack of an ensuite bathroom and vanity. It's a good choice for single guests in a snug little getaway, but two will feel like too many, especially considering the added luggage.
negative:
All the single ladies
This location is on the edge of Harlem and many feel that the streets are close to unsafe areas, which makes for a nervous walk home in the dark. Single travellers will want to consider walking busy city streets at night in this area of town.
negative:
Shared bathrooms
None of the rooms are ensuite. While there are bathrooms on each floor, you will be limited by your neighbours' bathroom habits and time schedules.
