Positive Reviews
positive:
Friendly welcome from knowledgeable host.
Reviewers frequently remarked on the friendly welcome from the helpful host whose local knowledge is on hand for suggesting places to eat and days out. Nothing, it seems, is too much trouble whether it’s catering for special diets at breakfast or assisting drivers when exiting the car park.
positive:
A great base for Lakeland exploring.
The surrounding area has lots to see. You can wander lonely as a cloud on long walks taking in the beautiful Lake District or follow in the footsteps of famed children’s author Beatrix Potter, who lived nearby. The village of Lakeside, where the guest house is located, is home to popular attractions like the Aquarium of the Lakes and Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway.
positive:
Rise and shine.
Delicious and plentiful are two words used frequently by guests to describe the cooked breakfast on offer at Landing Cottage Guest House. There are also cereals and vegetarian options.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Tight fit for some.
Most reviewers said they enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable stay, but some found the guest rooms and en suite bathrooms a bit on the small side for their liking. Most comments describe the beds as comfy, but you may find they can occupy lots of space in the room.
negative:
Some features a bit dated.
Despite having undergone extension and renovation work over the years, some reviewers felt certain aspects of the guest house needed bringing up to date including carpets and furnishings or the odd lick of paint. Apart from one or two mentions of mould in some of the showers, most visitors found the property to be clean during their stay.
negative:
Distinct smell bothered some.
A few guests noted a distinct smell in parts of the guest house. Some called it a damp smell and others likened it to a doggy smell or even fabric conditioner. However, the vast majority of reviewers made no mention of it.
