Guesthouse House Sao Bento (Lisbon, Portugal)

This guesthouse is ideally located in a safe and quiet area of central Lisbon. There are many great dining options in the area and public transportation connexions are excellent. Any part of the city is within easy reach. You will be only a short walk from the popular Bairro Alto district, which is excellent for nightlife or evening drinks. Guests also recommend shopping at Chiado, and stopping by the historic Alfama neighbourhood.

Guests really liked the common area of the hotel. The kitchen, which is well-equipped, is extremely handy, especially for long-term stays. The shared bathrooms are also very well kept, and there are is a good ratio of people per bathroom to avoid long lines during busy times. The balcony is also a popular place to hang out.

The hotel staff is said to be welcoming and kind. They are always happy to help should you run into any problems.

If you have trouble with stairs or plan on toting heavy luggage, keep in mind that there is no elevator onsite, and reception is located on one level above the street.

There is no air conditioning in the rooms, and guests say it can get quite stuffy, regardless of the temperature outside. In the summer though, it can also get quite hot.

The hotel does not have the best soundproofing. The walls are quite thin so loud neighbours can be an issue, and the doors don't offer much of a filter from hallway traffic. In addition, some rooms are also affected by traffic noise from the busy nearby road.
