Guesthouse Hostal Almanzor Gredos (Navarredonda de Gredos, Spain)

Located almost at 1600 m. above sea level in the North slope of the mountains of Gredos we find HOSTAL ALMANZOR. Founded more than 60 years ago Hostal Almanzor is one of the most emblematic places to stay in Gredos and has always been adapting and changing with the times but always keeping its unique essence untouched. In addition and most importantly Hostal Almanzor has become a place of reference for birdwatching in Spain. Situated in a field larger than 10.000 m” our hotel is surrounded by nature in all its forms. There are several gardens, indoor and outdoor terraces and three photographic hides for birdwatching. What makes Hostal Almanzor unique is the variety of species that one can observe within the estate. One can access the first hide from within the hotel and the said access is totally free, from it small species of birds can be observed. From the second hide, situated on top of the small hill behind the hotel, one can observe raptors, vultures and corvids. From the third both small and big species of birds can be observed but less often. You can spend an amazing time at any of these hides booking them in advance, the price is lower for the customers of the hotel but they are open to everyone. For 2019 we will be counting on a fourth photographic hide in the heights, a wooden cabin build on top of two pine trees. The HOSTAL ALMANZOR has 26 single, double and twin rooms. More than half of them face towards the mountains of Gredos and the rest face towards a pine forest. Apart from those options we count on another rooms specially designed as youth hostel rooms in which four people can stay. All of them have a private bathroom (some of them with shower and others with a bath tub), most of them have a private terrace where you can enjoy the beautiful view. We also have a restaurant where unique cuisine mixing tradition and modernity is served daily, with plenty of traditional local food but also vegan and vegetarian options. Moreover we have a bar that serves delicious tapas and drinks in the afternoon and in the evening. The privileged location of Hostal almanzor guarantees the enjoyment of nature by our guests: the large pine forest of Navarredonda de Gredos is less than 1km away, as well as beautiful natural pools of crystalline water from the Tormes River and plenty of hiking, trekking, mountain biking and horse riding routes either guided or free. Some of the species you can watch from our hides are: Great Tit, Coal Yit, Crested Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Winter Wren, Blackcap, Red Crossbill, Rock Bunting, Rock Sparrow, House Sparrow, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Yellow Wagtail, Grey Wagtail, Spotted Flycatcher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Short-Toed treecreeper, Black Redstart, Eurasian Nuthatch, Commun Finch, Bramblim…And from the other hide: Black Kite, Griffon Vulture, Red Kite, Black Vulture, Crows, Fox…
