In the beautiful valley of Defereggen, which is part of the Hohe Tauern National Park, between the Großglockner and the Antholzer Valley, in the mountain village of Hopfgarten, is our guesthouse Kohlplatzl at an altitude of 1,107 m. The whole area of the Defereggen Valley and the surrounding area offer many activities. In the summer season: hiking, alpine tours, mountaineering, cycling (start of the route is directly by the pension). You can also try rafting, just lay by the mountain lake or take a climb to the mountain peaks with a guide to see sunrise. Lovers of warm weather can head to the Mediterranean Italian center on the peninsula of Grado, only about 2.5 hours of drive by car to a really nice seaside beach. There are plenty of exciting motorbikes in the entire National Park. In the winter season: Downhill skiing is dominated and lovers of white track can also find many cross-country ski trails. Right next to the pension there is a small downhill course about 600m long - with artificial snow and own roller - suitable especially for children and less experienced skiers. For experienced skiers there are four large ski resorts: Sankt Jakob - 8km, Matrei - 12km, Kals am Großglockner - 14km, Lienz - 23km.
