Get ready to party.
With the frenetic vibe of the Fremont Street Experience right outside the Golden Gate's door, the stage is set for a night of revelry and fun. The party vibe continues in the hotel casino, with bikini-clad dancing waitresses and thumping music until the wee hours.
positive:
Tidy rooms.
Guests had no complaints about housekeeping at this hotel. Rooms were always clean and well-looked after.
positive:
Something a little different.
Frequent visitors to Las Vegas who typically stayed on the Strip, liked this downtown location for something different. They also appreciated the character of the Golden Gate, with it's tip of the hat to a bygone Las Vegas era that simply can't be found in larger mega resorts. From the pin-striped carpets, to Art Deco touches, this hotel had charm to spare. Having a drink in the same bar where Frank Sinatra might have hung his hat was a highlight of Las Vegas for many.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some rooms better than others.
Tiny, cramped rooms were not ideal, according to many guests of this hotel. Guests in standard rooms probably won't find the space they might expect in a Las Vegas hotel. Upgrading to a suite was worth it for guests to have double the space and much more room to stretch out.
negative:
Bring your earplugs.
Fremont Street is known for partying and loud music at any time of day. If you're not planning on being up all night, you might find that you are anyway, with the raucous party happening in the street below. Live music is known to last until 2:00 a.m, and some guests said volume levels were so loud, their rooms shook.
negative:
Unreliable water pressure.
The Golden Gate may be recently refinished on the surface, but the property is still one of the oldest hotels in Las Vegas. Because of this, guests had problems with older plumbing that didn't provide a consistently hot shower.
