Views are incredible of both the sea and mountain. Easy place for a quick get away. We had a few minor issues with mosquitoes biting while sleeping downstairs but otherwise the stay went very well. Great communication from owner as well which always helps. Thanks.

We had a great time

The property, location and views were excellent. Jenny the cleaner and her husband were very helpful. Unfortunately there were a few problems with the property. The water supply tank was empty when we arrived and I had to sort out filling the tank and then I had to sort out the water pump to get it working. Also the main bathroom shower and sink upstairs leaked into the garage because of faulty plumbing and this caused a leak in the garage so we couldn't use this shower or sink all week which was quite inconvenient. Jenny the cleaner and her husband were very helpful but we have had no contact from the property owner. I think a partial rebate of the cost of the bach is appropriate for the inconvenience we suffered and the work I did to fix the problems. Ed and Jenny.

Fantastic batch

Mokino is a traditional beautiful west coast Bach on the cliff above the beach with stunning views and sunsets. It was great to be able to take our well trained pooch with us and we all enjoyed our time immeasurably. We will be back

What an amazing stay - unbeatable views and room for the whole family to be under the same roof. Would love to book again and highly recommend.

Best break we’ve had in ages!

We were surprised and delighted with this perfect slice of heaven. As soon as we saw the incredible sea views (which look even better than the photos) we knew it was going to be the ideal getaway. We were able to completely unwind and relax. Communication with the hosts was perfect. I’m almost hesitant to leave a review as I don’t want too many people knowing about it in fear of it not being free the next time we book! Will stay again. Highly recommend - the perfect family batch.

Wonderful views and sound of the sea and the clear night sky was just incredible- we havn't seen that many stars for a long time. For a get away on a wild west coast beach this bach is excellent. The bach is warm and comfortable with views across the ocean and of Mount Taranaki.We really enjoyed our stay -thank you.

Was a lovely break but faulty bbq was annoying and only had enough gas in the bottle for 1 use also was supposed to be a DVD player but there wasn't. If I had known this i would have taken mine up there.

Felt really relaxed and the weather was great. Just awesome views, just sorry that we didn't see any dolphins, whales or orcas. We might have to come back and try another time, a hard decision to make! Thanks

Pretty basic bach however had everything we needed. It stormed pretty bad when we stayed however the place was nice and cozy. The view made our trip. Absolutely stunning ocean views. Amazing waking up to it. Would have loved to stay longer. Maybe next time. Thank you Richard for sharing your little slice of paradise!

Our third visit here from Perth in the last three years. A fantastic location to get away from things for a few days in a family orientated bach.. The panoramic views from the windows over looking the sea are magic. It rained and blew for a couple of days this year but that only added to the atmosphere of the bach: listening to the sea roar and to see the waves come rushing into the cliff below the bach. Planning is already underway for a fourth visit in the next year or so. Thanks so much.

Great spot for a relaxed break, right on the beach with stunning views and deck perfect for bbq dinners. We caught fish surfcasting from the beach below. Plenty of places to explore around the area and only an hour drive to New Plymouth. The biggest icecreams ever at the Mokau dairy

What a fabulous location and excellent entertaining space for a large group.The views are wonderful and as are the big windows.It would have been nice to have the option to pay more and have linen provided as this is difficult when you are travelling from overseas. Richard was helpful in allowing us to use the existing linen found in cupboards, but it would have been nice to have beds made up with fresh linen and towels.

Mokino is a very functional bach/beach house in a wonderful setting - looking north and south along the Taranaki coast. Huge windows and a great deck puts one right in the landscape. There's a track to the beach and facilities, including a great Museum at Mokau just down the road.

We were here from Perth West Australia on our second visit in twelve months. All the amenities were available for a wonderful 6 day stay. Love the aspect, the views. the beach, the homely atmosphere and the peace and quiet. We will be back.

A great bach with a view to die for from every window! A stunning place to spend the night with my little dog (who particularly enjoyed his play on the beautiful black sand beach the next morning).

We used Mokino as a base for our team while we were working in the area. It was comfortable and ideal for our needs. The views are stunning, shame we didn't get more time to take advantage of the beach etc. We would be very happy to book this batch again if our work takes us to this area.

Simply stunning views from every upstairs room bar the bathroom. Huge windows and a great deck. A well loved family bach with everything we needed to relax. I loved how we could descend to the beach via a track, swim in the waves, then stand under a small waterfall to rinse off. The Whitebait Inn had good takeaway fish and chips too. A bit off traffic noise, but not an issue. A truly authentic piece of New Zealand paradise. None of us wanted to leave.

Fantastic view and the set up of the house was perfect for our family.

Kiwi bach with heaps of character! Sitting atop the cliffs between Mokau and Awakino, this family bach has sensational west coast views from the second story (including the bedrooms!). A track to the beach requires a fair amount of bushwhacking and a sense of adventure but the beach and nearby waterfall are fantastic. The kitchen has lots of utensils and cookware but be sure to take along any basics ie salt and pepper, oils etc if you intend to cook. Will hopefully stay here again in the future!

Great spot! Beaut north facing windows warmed us all in between rain showers. Fantastic deck. Comfortable beds. The stairs down to the bunk-rooms are external, so not ideal for little ones, but it all worked.Neat to be able to walk down to the beach and explore.

Great little classic kiwi bach. We loved staying so close to the stormy beach, and keeping warm and cosy inside with our kids with the books, toys and games provided. Would love to stay again.

This place was just amazing, the views alone are just worth it. It was just the two of us, but would absolutely suit a family too. Would highly recommend to others. The only miniscule thing to comment on was that the shower upstairs lacked pressure, but in the scheme of things not a very big deal at all. Will hopefully stay again.

Great place to stay for a lazy weekend with the family. This wasn't our first stay and won't be our last. We did however stuggle with getting the shower to the right temp. Would highly recommend

Clifftop basic Kiwi bach with outstanding views. Great to have access to the beach via a steep path from the property. Enjoyed the beautiful waterfall and caves along the beach and the seal pups we saw.

What a fantastic location. Million dollar view. Batch was ok. It could do with a washing machine and dryer , also there where no cleaning clothes to be found had to go down the road and buy some.

Loved the place, it has an amazing view. It was a bit cold -was to be expected in July- but the bach must be amazing in summer. Would definitely recommend, we wished we stayed there the whole week.

Tidy bach with AMAZING view over the Pacific. Easy care and makes you feel like you have had a good holiday away from it all. Things to just be aware of is that you do need to either drive to the beach or put on your walking shoes for a wee bit of exercise to get to it, and upstairs shower is a fiddley with getting the right temperature. All else is super easy.

This is a great place with beautiful views. Very easy access to property and beach, everything just works. Clean and tidy place. Great spots for fishing and good base for exploring the Taranaki region. We would recommend this bach to our friends and defiantly will like to come back.

Absolutely fabulous. We did not want to leave. Listening to the sea at night was so relaxing. Sitting out in the sun on the deck was just magic. Everything was there for us. We will definitely be considering returning on our next trip to NZ.
