Dorint City-Hotel Salzburg (Salzburg, Austria)

The first thing to say about the Mercure Salzburg Central Hotel is that it is a short walk (10 minutes or so) from the centre of the city, however that is more than adequately compensated for by the price, compared with those of hotels located right in the centre. The rooms here are of a generous size, and guests who were visiting with their family comment that the children loved the large bathtub, and the complimentary ducks!

Guests report that they were checked in quickly and efficiently. The hotel has a small gymnasium, and a couple of saunas that were appreciated. Visitors from Denmark found the breakfast buffet excellent, and some from Belgium thought that the hotel was spotless, and it was a pleasant walk to the city centre.

The hotel offers good value for money, and guests were particularly pleased to be allowed the contents of the mini-bar -beers, soft drinks and snacks- as a complimentary item.

The restaurant is not always open, and guests are asked to walk to the other Mercure hotel, some way distant. The air conditioning was not working when guests were staying during hot weather: management report that this defect has now been rectified. The Wi-Fi connectivity is not very good.

Guests were upset at check-in when others jumped the queue and the receptionist did not control it, this left a sour taste with those who suffered this lack of consideration. Some other guests found the front desk staff to be unhelpful and not as good as those at the Mercure in Munich.

The toiletries provided were not of good quality, similarly the coffee was very ordinary. The location suffers from traffic noise, and parking is quite expensive. One or two guests found the staff unhelpful.
