Positive Reviews
positive:
Rooms are comfortable.
Rooms are well equipped with most of the things you could reasonably need. They are warm and cosy and the Wi-Fi signal is good. There are things that are missing, because the main hotel building is closed. Most people, though, just want some access to bars and restaurants and a comfortable, warm room to return to. In those respects, The Brecon still scores highly.
positive:
An excellent location.
There's very easy access from the motorway system and once you're here, it's an easy walk to the town centre's bars and restaurants.
positive:
That's a first! ...Easy hospital parking.
Rotherham Hospital is virtually opposite and visitors will obviously expect to be ‘clobbered' with onerous parking costs. Stay at the Brecon, though and you can leave your car here … saving you a fortune-*and possible hospital treatment, when you see what ‘they' are charging!
Negative Reviews
negative:
It's only half the story.
Currently, the main hotel building is closed for renovation - although there's no indication of an early start, let alone completion. Consequently, there are none of the usual hotel facilities; no restaurant, no bar and no communal atmosphere. Sad to relate, the nearest you'll get to an on-site meal is a sandwich from the ‘Tesco Local', opposite the hotel.
negative:
What's left is very dated.
It's quite clean but the carpets and decor, generally, have seen better days. The fact that there is no soundproofing is now just a minor concern.
negative:
There's no reception.
Try contacting reception in the event of a query or perhaps to reasonably request the use of an iron. You'll be lucky! Reception is religiously not manned at most times of the day... and all through the night.
