A charming old-style hotel
The restored Victorian hotel building has lots of history, with beautiful period decoration and antique furnishings throughout. Guests like the character and atmosphere this brings to the hotel, saying it is like stepping back to the days of old Quebec.
positive:
In a prime location
The location of the hotel is excellent, being on a quiet road away from lots of tourists but only a few steps away from Le Chateau Frontenac, the waterfront, and all the other sights you want to see. You can easily stroll around and explore all of Vieux-Quebec from this base.
positive:
Welcoming staff give a great service
All members of staff at the hotel are very friendly. They are efficient, attentive and exceptionally helpful with nothing seeming like too much trouble for them. You will get good recommendations for things to do and see.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Breakfast is not the best start to the day
While breakfast is adequate, guests would like there to be a larger and more imaginative selection on offer. Of what there is, guests are not particularly impressed, saying the baked products are not the freshest and the coffee is from pods. Guests expect better.
negative:
Tricky stairs
While there is a luggage lift, there is no guest lift. This means that guests have to use the stairs to their rooms, with some less mobile guests finding this difficult. If stairs are a struggle for you then this may not be the best hotel choice.
negative:
Bathrooms are a bit of a squeeze
Though not a major problem, some guests have found that the en-suite bathrooms are on the tight side. Overall though, this issue tends not to lessen the quality of anybody's comfort or enjoyment of their stay.
